Summary : Malaysia's economy will recover

The MIDF Research had predicted a “largely expected” economic contraction for the second quarter (Q2) of 2020 due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Its recovery would depend on how the rest of the world cope with the crisis, especially Malaysia’s key trading partners that would affect the global demand for the country’s product like palm oil. The stimulus package is to provide some cushion to the adverse impact from the pandemic. Malaysia had signalled an economic recession for July-September 2020. Malaysia’s export growth will slowly recover once the government had reopened the economy.
